When your travelling around the world, you make some sort of attempt to blend in with the locals as much as possible. In the eyes of a local your an alien from out of space with your fancy camera, forking out tons of money, always on holiday and never working!
To gain their trust and to be invited into their lives, you must try to act as they do. Try to drink tea while sitting on their wobbly broken chairs next to a busy highway surrounded by rubbish getting covered in a thick layer of dust. Eat from the rickety street stalls where there are long queues of locals. And most importantly, say hello in the local language.
